Ten Out of Ten: Opportunities to reflect on:

.

>Aim

To use the theme 'Ten out of Ten' to promote opportunities to reflect on:
  • What it means to try your best whilst accepting that no-one is always perfect.
  • The fact that the majority view is not always the right one.
Format: Text

>Preparation

You will need:
Session 1:  10/10 and 1/10 written on a blackboard / whiteboard or flip chart.
Two large labels with 10/10 and 1/10 written in bold numerals and two children to wear them.
Quiet music to end the Collective Worship time.

Session 2:  Four children each holding a card with the numeral 10 written on it. They should be seated like a set of judges, with the leader to the side.
Children to act out a short mime.

Session 3:  Children's own 'Top Ten' lists.
The Ten Commandments (Exodus Chapter 20 from a children's version of the Bible, e.g. Lion Children's Bible p.77).

Session 4:  Board / flip chart showing 10/10 and 1/10, as in Session 1.
The story of the Ten Lepers (Luke 17 in the Lion Children's Bible p.348. NB: this version does not use the term 'leper' but refers to 'men who were suffering from a skin disease'.)
The hymn 'Thank you Lord' (Come & Praise 1, No.32).
