Crowded Out

.

>Aim

To use the theme of 'Crowded Out' to promote opportunities to reflect on:
  • Belonging to communities
  • The need to support others who may feel crowded out
  • Some Bible stories which explore the figure of Jesus as friend, healer and helper
  • The Christian message that, however large the crowd, Jesus cares for the individual.

>Preparation

You will need:
  • Session 1 - A newspaper - probably a Sunday sports section - showing the size of crowds at recent football matches.

  • Session 2 - Lion Children's Bible, or similar, with a version of the story of the woman who touched the hem of Jesus' cloak (Mark 5)

  • Session 3 - Lion Children's Bible, or similar, with a version of the story of the man let down through the roof (Mark 2)

  • Session 4
    • A newspaper, as for Session 1
    • Lion Children's Bible, or similar, with a version of the story of the walk to Emmaus (Luke 24)
    • Some quiet music for when the children leave.
